Tuesday

To trod on it, to experience it

Words of the day:
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. ~Buddha

Now, isn't that clever, smart thinking. But how many of us really get to do that? It's sad that a lot of people just go on following a lot of written and oral preachings with total blindness. There are a lot of fanatics. They can get brainwashed. Look at what's happening in the world...there are a lot of bloodshed just because people are fighting for what they believe. I don't really think of it as religion, yes, close, but it's more of a faith in something, a devotion. They are even willing to die for that cause. If only I could just put my heart into something, work on it and make it my life, perhaps I would be so successful. I just have to find that something to put my heart on.It all depends where one puts his/her heart on. I believe it should be something worthwhile, not just anything. The problem is some people bet thier lives on something not even worth it or worst some twisted, selfish dogma/philosophy.How about you? Where do put your whole human devotion?

Be careful, don't let yourself be tricked.Don't soak yourself in a quicksand or you might wallow in deep mud puddles worst you'd sink to the bottom with your own fanatical devotion.
